{heart day 2012}

I almost forgot to post our Valentine's this year.  With everything being so crazy this year I went with easy Valentine's for the kids.  I forgot to get a picture of Cole's but his looks just like Kaidee's with the sucker.  Remember last year we did the mustache Valentine's?  Well he made sure that I didn't do that one again.  He did not like it.
Kaidee did two different ones.
We did the kiss one for the first time and everyone liked it.  We added a baggie with kisses to the back.
Kaidee really got into the whole kiss thing as you can see.
Cole made a special Valentine for his teacher.
And last but not least here is Chloe with her Valentine.  He got her roses and a big card.  Chloe made him a candy gram and a pack of crush soda.

Darian and I celebrated Valentine's the night before.  We went to dinner and to see the movie The Vow.  I really liked the movie but really had no idea what it was about.  It was a great date night movie.

our valentine's 2011

Today Chloe's having her Valentine's party because Monday is a holiday at their school. Of course it crept up on me so I was at Costco at 8:00pm picking up their pictures. After I bought them I noticed that they had cut off the word Happy. At that point we just had to live with it. I guess that's what happens when you wait till the last minute. Chloe wasn't very happy but she got over it when I attached the Reese's peanut butter heart to her hand.

Kaidee's Valentine was a lot like last years. I love how cute and original they are and so easy too. They actually cost about the same as if you were to buy the premade ones at the store. Kaidee's party is Tuesday so I have this weekend to attach all of the suckers.

My sister Lynda was the genius behind this card. She found it at Craft Monkey. After picking them up the kids all wanted to see what theirs looked like. I handed them each theirs and started walking to the car. I turned around to make sure the kids were following me when Cole just started crying. My mom picked him up and he said he didn't like his mustache. My mom told him it was cute and that Miles and Degan are going to love it. Then Cole said "Bobby will laugh at me." Bobby is my brother and when he sees my kids he loves to tease them and do silly things to them but Cole doesn't like it very much and he always is afraid to see Bobby. I think it's funny. Cole's mood seems to have changed today because now he likes it.

What are you doing for your kids this Valentine's Day?

{feeling the Love}

This past Monday our Family Night was all about love. We began the night by making heart sugar cookies.

Kaidee and Cole helped me roll out the dough.

Paisley loved frosting her cookie. She kept asking for more frosting. Notice her tongue this must be a very strong gene in our family.

Popsicle sticks work so well for her tiny hands.

Then she figured out it tasted good, and that was it.

No more frosting she was all about eating.

The final result. The kids had fun decorating and I think they did a pretty good job.

For our lesson/activity I had cut out 49 hearts enough for each person in the family to write something about each one of their family members. I didn't do a set for Paisley. I told the kids that they had to write why they loved each family member. I explained that this wasn't a race and that they needed to think about the reasons. I didn't want them to say things like "i love Cole because he is nice." I then told them that we were going to display them all over the house so that everyone could read why they are loved throughout the next few weeks. I must say it turned out better than I imagined. The kids did so well. Even Cole had some great reasons why he loved his family. Here are a few in our kitchen.

I took a close up of a few of them for you to see. I got this idea at 71 toes. This would also make a great fhe on Valentine's Day.

{works for me: decorating with candy}

Decorating with candy is an easy way to dress up your home for a holiday. It doesn't cost a lot of money and it looks beautiful. I just have one rule though, you can't eat any until the holiday is over. I bought these glass containners at Tai Pan.

{cutest valentine's}

Remember these from last year. I am going to be doing them again this year. They were so easy and fun to make and everyone loved them. This year I am planning ahead and I won't be making them the day before.

{heart}

I have been wanting to make this heart ever since I saw it over at The Idea Room. Amy has a great tutorial so you can make one yourself. I have been needing more Valentine's decorations in my home so I knew I needed to make this. I must say I love how it turned out.

{Love #11}

My cousin Jill found this idea somewhere in blogland and told me about it. I have seen it on a few different blogs myself and I thought it was too darn cute not to do for my kids. So I did it and it was so easy.

I took the kids pictures today when they got home from school. I added the words on photoshop. I then downloaded them to Costco and they were ready in an hour. Well they were supposed to be ready in an hour but they weren't so we got them for free.

I took an exacto knife and cut two slits one on the top of the hand and one on the bottom. I added a blow pop and that's it. I can't wait to see how their friends react when they get them.

These really are so much better than giving just the same ol same ol paper Valentine's.

I found the idea here.

{Valentine's pictures part #1}

I had to take pictures of the kids for their Valentine's cards so I just figured I would take a few more. Garrett wasn't here today so I will have to take more this weekend. These were taken here in our yard but I think maybe we will venture out this weekend since we have a 4 days off. The beach sounds perfect. I need a TK Burger anyway. We will see but until then here are the pictures.

{valentine's dollars}

I almost forgot to post what came in the mail for Valentine's Day. My mom sent the kids a card with $1 for each of them. This was no ordinary dollar they were brand spanking new $1 bills with a heart over whatever number grandchild they were. For those that don't know my mom loves doing things for them that have to do with whatever number grandchild they are. For Christmas a few years ago she made them pajamas with their # on their bums.

Valentine Fun

Yesterday Kaidee, Chase and I delivered a few pizza valentine's. It was so much fun. We gave them to family and a few neighbors. Kaidee loved being the delivery girl. The kids can't wait to do it again next year.

Here is our loot. Six heart shaped pizza's hot from the oven. We went to pick them up but then I had to go back home because I forgot my camera.

My delivery girl.

This is my brother Cody and his son Rowdy. Rowdy didn't care about the pizza he just wanted the candy.

My mom with Kaidee and Chloe.

Isn't it so cute. It was very yummy too.

Sydney was asleep so we gave her a bag of starburst anyway and of course I had to take a picture. She didn't like that too much but wait until she sees it on my blog...lol

My Valentine's Gift

Darian got me the charm necklace from Brighton. I love it already. I can't wait to fill it up with charms. He was so sweet he couldn't wait until Valentine's day to give it to me so I got it two days early. It is the perfect gift.
