Now that the weather is warming up a bit its time to get our bikes ready. Cole helped Darian fix flats and adjust seats so everyone will be able to ride their bikes.

{were back}
We are are home.
The weather today is a perfect...
90 degrees.
We have been playing outside a lot.
Paisley loves the swings.
Can you see her legs holding on for dear life.
Darian has been trying to catch some gophers.
Today he put some sort of...
noise thing in the ground.
It's supposed to scare them away.
Sure enough as soon as he put it in the ground...
we see a pile of dirt coming up.
So what does he do...
hits it with a bat. Gross.
I am not sure if he hit it or not...
but it hasn't been seen since.
That thing has really tore up our back lawn.
So it needs to go!
How is your weather today?
{I have to brag for a moment}
As many of you know my Husband Darian is a locomotive engineer so in other words he drives trains like the one below.
A few weeks ago while he was taking a train to Barstow he noticed a truck in a ditch. He told his coworker about it and they decided to stop the train. It takes a while to stop the train so when it did stop they walked almost a mile back to the truck. When they got there they saw that their were two people inside the truck. They were both hurt pretty bad. One of the victims was holding the others victims head because it was bleeding pretty good. There was a third person in the truck but they had taken off to find help. This happened at night so they were hard to see. The people were from out of town and they had gotten lost. They made a wrong turn and ended up in a ditch and their truck had flipped over. They did not have cell phones for some reason either. Darian was able to call for help and they were all taken to the hospital. Once everything was ok Darian and his crew got back on the train and left. That night Darian received a call from the Big boss at work thanking him for going above and beyond the call of duty. When he told me this story I thought that he was going to get in trouble for stopping the train. Trains have deadlines and they carry cargo that needs to be at different places.
Darian also received a Target gift card, this plaque and he was mentioned in the BNSF Company newsletter. He never found out what happened to those people but I know what would have happened if Darian didn't stop that train.

{happy new year}
For New Years Eve we went to a friends house and I almost forgot to take pictures. So as soon as we began the countdown I remembered to bring my camera out. I am glad we got this picture. I think its perfect that my first picture of 2011 is with my husband.

{tooth fairy?}
Last week Darian, Cole, Paisley, and I went to the LA County Fair in Pomona. The other kids were in school. Thanks to facebook I was able to find tickets for $10 at Ralph's Supermarket. You can get just about any information you need on Facebook.
When we got to the fair the ticket lines were very long but because we already had tickets we got to go straight in. I was so grateful that we didn't have to wait in line for our tickets. We haven't been to the fair for a couple of years and it was different than the last time we went. There were so many game booths and rides this year. The animals are my favorite part of the fair but this year there weren't very many. They also didn't have as many vendors to look at either. We had fun and Darian sampled a lot of treats. I ate at King Taco but I wasn't very impressed. Cole loved it and asked if we could go to the "tooth fairy" again :)

{ thankful thursday }
I am so thankful for my wife, she is the best person in the whole world. I miss doing the things that make her happy. I am also thankful for my (mom) Kathy for being the greatest person, for bringing my two girls to Wyoming. She always thinks of everyone else before herself. Letti must of got this from her mom,she thinks the same way. I am also thankful for family's and that they can be together forever. Love all of you.

{he's gone}
Darian left an hour ago. He is going to be working in Wyoming for a couple of months along with my Dad and Cody. They are going to be in a small town near Cody. We didn't tell anyone because we didn't know if it was a for sure thing or not. We found out this morning around 10:00am that he was going. Right now it still feels like he just went to work but I am sure that in a few days I will be ready for a break. Many of my friends and neighbors have offered their support. Darian's sister called and invited Kaidee to come spend the day with her on Saturday. I have not told Kaidee yet because she will be asking me every so often if it's time to go. I am nervous about the yard and the pool. I hope that I can maintain both of them to Darian's standards but I don't think the lawn stands a chance. Oh well let the countdown begin.
{8 years}

Happy Anniversary Darian! I hope that the next 50 years are as good as the last 8.
- I love that you always make sure the gas tank is full.
- I love that you are such a hands on Dad.
- I love that you like to go to the grocery store.
- I love that you fit into my family so well.
- I love that you love me.
- I love that you keep my car cleaned.
- I love that you never leave a project unfinished.
- I love that you choose me to be your wife!

March Madness
Last Saturday was our ward party and the theme was March Madness so they asked us to come dresses in our favorite team colors. Well you know me I was so excited to wear my team colors and the rest of the family was no exception.

Chloe as a "Laker Girl." If you look close you can see she is wearing yellow and purple glitter on her eyes.

Kaidee as the Angels "Ball Girl."

The family, Darian had to be a little different and wear his UCLA shirt. It was a fun night and everyone loved how spirited we were.

Things I Love #15

Knowing that at any moment Darian will be walking through the door after spending the weekend in Las Vegas with the guys. I was excited for him to get away and have some male bonding time but I am tired of being the only parent in the house. He did have fun and he was able to stay in a suite that was completely paid for can't beat that. The Super Bowl party was good too he especially loved all of the food he had to choose from. He said the desserts were the best. Hopefully he gets to stay home a little while before heading out to drive a train.

All About Darian
I was tagged by Chantri so here you go;
What is his name? Darian Lee Byrd
How long have you been married? 8 Years on June 3rd
How long did you date? Well we started dating in January, we were engaged in March, and we were married in June. So I guess you could say 5 months, pretty quick but who needs to wait when it just feels right.
How old is he? 38
How old are you? 33 but I still feel like I am 21. How did I get so old? Darian wishes I was older so that when he retires he doesn't have to pay for my medical insurance for 5 years.
Who eats more sweets? Darian for sure. he has to have something sweet after every meal and snack. I am not a sweets eater at all. I will eat something sweet every once in a while like maybe once every two weeks.
Who said I love you first? I don't remember for sure but I think it was him.
Who is taller? Darian is by far. I am only 4'9" he is 5'10". That would have been pretty bad if I would have married someone shorter than me....lol
Who can sing better? Neither of us.
Who is smarter? I think that we are both smart in our own way. He is good at understanding interest rates and things like that. I have a super good memory and he doesn't. We both have good common sense though.
Who does the laundry? I do, this is my favorite chore. Besides Darian's idea of doing laundry is grabbing whatever clothes he can find and putting them in the washing machine reds, whites, towels, it doesn't matter. So it's better that I take care of it.
Who does the dishes? We both do, we share a lot of the household chores.
Who pays the bills? I do I wish we did it together but he works so much thats it's just easier for me to pay them as they come.
His guilty pleasure? Golfing for sure. This has been the start of many arguments in our home. I just wish it wasn't so expensive and that it didn't take all day long to play. He is barely home as it is so when he has time off I like to keep him home with us. He has done really good though. Before we were married he would go golfing at least three times a week and now he is lucky if he goes once a month. When we go on our mission he can golf all he wants I mean that should count as missionary work right? Thanks Darian.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me
Who mows the lawn? He does but I wish that I could but we have golf course grass (you know that really short kind) so we have to have a special lawn mower and I do not know how to work it. I do like to work out in the yard as much as possible.
Besides you, who is his best friend? I would say my Dad and my brothers. They have a very special friendship. They could live next door to each other and be perfectly happy. It makes it so nice that they all get along so well.
Who cooks dinner? We both do. I do not like to cook so I wish he would do it all the time but I know that's not possible so we share this chore. I feel like I am not a good cook and it seems like I am always cooking the same boring stuff. Thanks Chantri, Heather, and Emily you guys have been giving me great new recipes to try.
Who drives? I do if I am the only adult in the car. Darian always drives when we are together, we just drove to Texas and he drove the entire way. I do not like driving unless I have to. I will make anyone else who has a liscense drive before I do. I also agree with Chantri, I think it looks silly when the wife is driving the hubby around. Sorry if taht offends anyone.
Who kissed who first? He did but he will probably say I did but I am the one with the good memory and I remember it was him.
Who asked who out first? I did. I have had a crush on him since he started golfing with my Dad when I was in Junior High. I would watch him through the window and he didn't even know. Then he got married, divorced, and by this time I was old enough for him to notice me so I told my brother to tell him to ask me on a date. So my brothers and my Dad went golfing with him and my brother told him. That night while I was eating dinner with the family he called and asked me to go to the movies with him. We went to see the most horrible movie ever. It was called The Hurricane and I picked it out because I thought it would be like the movie Twister. I was so wrong it was about a boxer. I even fell asleep because we went to the 10 o'clock showing. I guess it didn't matter because he asked me out for a second date.
What was your first date? see previous answer
Who proposed? He did of course....lol He took Chase and I to dinner at a place called Sayaka's it's a restaraunt where they cook on your table. The chef came out and started cooking and at the end just before the main course was done he started tossing food around to see if you could catch it in your mouth. Well when it came time for him to throw it to me he threw me the ring instead and since I knew I couldn't catch the ring (which I thought was food at the time) with my mouth I caught it in my hands and it was very hot. Then he proposed to both Chase and I and of course we said yes and then everyone started clapping. It was a moment I will never forget.
Who has more siblings? I do, I am the oldest of 6 and he is the 2nd of 4.
Who wears the pants? ...lol I think we both share this role. I am the oldest so I think that I am naturally a little more bossy. This is something that I really need to work on. He is definitely the head of our home. I can only imagine what he would say to this question.
What is your favorite thing about him? Wow there are so many things. He is the most unselfish person I know. He would do anything for me or the children at any moment and I am being serious. He takes the kids to the doctor, changes diapers, cooks, buys me MAC make up, took Cole to get his newborn pictures when I wasn't feeling up to it, loves my family, unselfish, will buy girly things at the store for me, and these are just a few of the things. One other thing I love about him is that he is a worker not just on the train but at home too. Whenever he starts a project he doesn't stop until it's done this is a huge deal to me. He also lets me do whatever I want and he never says no which can be bad sometimes too...lol

Daddy Daughter Date

Today Darian took the girls out on a daddy daughter date. They went to lunch at Baker's and then they went to see the movie Enchanted. Darian said that he really liked the movie and that I needed to go and see it. Chloe and Kaidee both liked it as well. They went to the 12:50 showing and there was only two other people in the theater besides them. Darian thanked me for letting him have a day with his daughters he said it was a lot of fun. I am so thankful that Darian enjoys doing stuff with the kids.
