{candy corn cupcakes, activity day girls}

One of my responsibilities at church is working with the 8-11 year old girls it is called activity day girls. Once a month we meet at my house to learn new things and pass off goals. For the month of October we learned to bake cupcakes and then we delivered them to friends. Well we actually "Boo'ed" them. It was hard to hide during the day but the girls had fun trying.  My girls have also been inviting their friends to come to activity days too.

Here is how we made candy corn cupcakes.  We made a plain white cake mix and then divided it in half in two separate bowls.  We then added food coloring to make one orange and the other one yellow.  It was an easy process.
Next we added a small amount of yellow cake batter, then orange  We had to be careful and not mix the colors.  The girls did very well.
We then baked them according to the directions on the package and this is what they looked like when we took them out.  Make sure you get the white cupcake liners so that you can see the different colors through the liner.
We added white frosting to a plastic bag snipped the corner and then piped the frosting onto the cupcakes.  Then you had the three colors to make it look like candy corn.
We put candy and the cupcakes in a Halloween bowl that I picked up in the dollar section at Target.  Last thing we did was to add a cute poem and ghost then we went to deliver our special treats.
The girls had so much fun and when we were all done they wanted to make more so that they could of Boo'ed more people.

{it's beginning to feel like Halloween}

I am so ready for Halloween that I started decorating 3 weeks ago. I finally finished last week. I always enjoy looking at how others decorate their homes so why not show you mine. The weather is cold and cloudy today and the kids are making Hot Chocolate. Its just a reminder that the next three months are going to be filled with fun, family, and friends. I can't wait :)

{a banner and some scary girls}

Today my friend Tasha and I got together to make some Halloween crafts. I made this banner as my pictionary gift. I came home and added a few strips of material and now its done. I hope they don't like it so that I can win it back :)

I asked my assistants for some help and when I downloaded the picture they looked a little scary. Thanks Picnik!

{a very nice witch}

Last week my Aunt Lindy went to the kids school dressed as a witch. She read the kids a book while my other Aunt and I made blueberry pancakes. The blueberry pancakes go along with the story. She also told a cute story about her house and a little ghost that wanted to live with her. She took an orange paper made a door, window, and a smaller door, then when she opened up the paper it turned into a pumpkin. The kids loved it.

{Halloween 08}

{uhggg my pictures are still not enlarging, Can anyone help me?} Yesterday at the girls school they were allowed to wear costumes that were out of a book. So in order to follow the rules Kaidee could not wear her costume because she was a pirate. Well we improvised and she was a clown with no makeup because they were not allowed to wear any of that either. We arrived at the school to find that everyone wore whatever costeme they felt like only a few followed the rules. I saw a few kids without costumes on because their parents didn't want to buy a second costume. So I guess I learned my lesson for next year.
Last night for Halloween we had our annual open house. We had many friends and family that came over to spend the evening with the kids and I, Darian was at work. We ate lots of yummy soup, homemade rolls, and of course candy. This is the only picture that I was able to get with my kids and Rowdy. Chase and Garrett only wore masks so I didn't include them in the picture.
Don't you just love Rowdy's costume. I think he won for the most creative costume. I love his chest hair. Cody and Celeste always come up with the best costumes.
Chase was such a big helper. He helped me get Cole ready to go trick or treating. This was the first of three costumes that Cole wore last night. The second was a dragon and the third was a monkey. It was actually not very cold last night so as soon as he got hot he would take it off. He ended up passing out candy in just a diaper.
Here is Chloe dressed up as Dorothy with Rally as Toto.

Kaidee was a pirate girl. Thanks Nan for helping to finish up her costume.

I hope that everyone else had a fun and safe Halloween.
